Charles Gregory O'Connor

O'Connor, Charles Gregory - age 84, passed away Wednesday, August 23, 2000, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, former Knoxville Mayor John T. O'Connor and Mary Wright O'Connor; brothers, John A. O'Connor, Joseph F. O'Connor, and James R. O'Connor. Mr. O'Connor was the founder and owner of East Tennessee Food Brokerage Co. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus and a past Grand Knight. He was actively involved in all the activities of his children and grandchildren. Wife of 53 years: Jeanne M. O'Connor A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, August 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 Vine Ave. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 26, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The mass will be officiated by Father Jim Haley, Father Rick Walsh, Father Xavier Mankel, Father Jim Vick, and Father Bill Gahagan. Graveside services will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers: Forest Kirkpatrick, Frank Richmond, Paul Murphy, Willie Charles, Ralph Monroe, Graham Driscoll, David McWhirter, Walter Clancy, John Provenza, and Marvin Tarpy. Pallbearers: sons-in-law, Pat Yochim, Joe Savery, Jim Hazenfield, Scott VanFleet, Norm Canfield, Greg Heaton, and Mike Ensley. In lieu of flowers. memorial donations may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Immaculate Conception Fish Pantry, Interfaith Health Clinic, and St. Mary's Hospice. Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Hwy., will be in charge.
