Sarah Childress Major

Major, Sarah Childress, age 79, passed away Tuesday April 18, at St. Mary's Hospice in Halls after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Preceded in death by husband Carl H. Major and parents Henry & Rose Childress, sisters Jessie Armstrong Owens and Henrietta Beasley Hansbarger, brothers Robert & Glen Childress. She was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church and previously attended Buffat Heights Baptist Church. Sarah worked for the Tennessee Department of Unemployment many years. She enjoyed bowling and fishing and she especially enjoyed her church friends and the fellowship with friends at Peterson Place. Her children and their spouses: Nancy & Jack Palmer of Seymour, Don & Lois Major of Winter Park, FL, Vickie & Dennis McGaha of Knoxville, and Mike & Sherry Major of Brighton, TN Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday 19th at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel with funeral services at 8:00pm with Dr. Scott Thomas and Dr. Charles Earl officiating. Family and friends will meet at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel at 10:00 am to go in procession to Roseberry Cemetery for 11:00am graveside service.
