Rev. Elmer James Sands

Sands, Rev. Elmer James, age 78, of South Knoxville, passed away January 10, 1999 at his home. Veteran and POW of World War II. Member of Seven Islands Missionary Baptist Church. Retired from Y-12 Union Carbide. Preceded in death by parents Walter Sands and Mamie Sands Bean; sisters Dessie Humphrey, Christine Holbert, Dama McNeely, Pauline Bales, brother Bill Bean. Wife of 52 years: Stella Sands Funeral 2:00 PM Tuesday Seven Islands Baptist Church, Rev. Ernie Sands, Rev. Roy Hammock officiating. Pallbearers will be sons Jim, Stanley, Steven, Ernie, grandsons Timmy Welch and Keith Sands. Interment Asbury Cemetery. Family will receive friends 7-9 PM Monday at Berry Funeral Home Chapman Highway.
