George C. Staats, Sr., age 72 of Sevierville, passed away Friday, August 29, 2008. He was a member of Pentecostal Church of God, Sevierville, and he loved to sing and pick guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Thelma Staats and brother Delmar Staats. Mellie Reed Douglass
Mellie Reed Douglass, age 87, of Sevierville, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2008. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Sevierville and a beautician in Sevierville for 30 years. Mrs. Douglass loved to cook for everyone and always had Sunday dinner ready. She was also very well known for her fried apple pies. She was a loving grandmother, who loved her grandkids very much. Eddie Wilson Akers
Akers, Eddie Wilson - age 90, of Knoxville, Tennessee, slipped quietly into an eternal sleep on Wednesday, August 27, 2008, joining those who were most anxiously awaiting her arrival: her husband, Alfred (“Bus”) Akers, and her granddaughter, Rhea Akers. Eddie grew up in an orphanage in Tiffin, Ohio during The Great Depression.
