Greg Hill has been named program/operations director at the University of Tennessee's public radio station, WUOT 91.9 FM.
Hill has served as the station's operations director since August 2007. His role has expanded to include the non-news-related programming decisions formerly made by Program Director Daniel Berry, who retired today.
"In today's digital media environment, best practices place programming and operations in one department led by an individual who has the skill sets of a more traditional program director and the technical expertise required to oversee complex automation and satellite delivery systems," WUOT Director Regina Dean said. "Greg brings a wealth of expertise to this new position. He is a capable operations director and manager and has a strong grasp of audience data analysis, production and other programming duties. He will do an excellent job in this new role."
Over his 12-year career in radio, Hill has served in a variety of roles. Prior to joining WUOT, Hill was program/operations director at WYSO-FM in Yellow Springs, Ohio. For five years he served as operations director at the Red River Radio Network in Shreveport, La., where he also was the local host for NPR's "All Things Considered." His first job in radio was as promotions director for Gulfstar Communications.
Hill holds a bachelor's degree in mass communications from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.
Originally from Alexandria, La., Hill makes his home in the Fountain City area of North Knoxville with his wife, Tricia, and their three children.
