     Road closures continue in Seymour during the ongoing Knoxville Utility Board upgrade project.
     KUB is currently upgrading existing transmission lines connection from Seymour substation to the Shooks Gap substation that is located on 10260 Chapman Hwy.
     Currently, temporary closures are taking place on Old Sevierville Pike while the new utility poles are being put into place.
     The new utility poles that are being installed will provide increased reliability now and in the future, according to KUB.
     “The newer poles have a larger life span versus the traditional wood poles and require less maintenance,” Whiteside said. “The increase height is due to the increased size and the number of wires and the required safety clearances by the National Electric Safety Code.”
     The upgrade project, which is expected to last through November, is on the following routes:
     Old Sevierville Pike between the KUB Shooks Gap Electric Substation on Cunningham Rd. and E. Nails Creek Road;
     Along Old Sevierville Pike between E. Nails Creek R. and Curley Lane;
      Along Curley Lane from the Old Sevierville Pike intersection and across back property lines to Estates Drive and across to W. Union Valley Road;
     Along W. Union Valley Rd. to Scenic Circle and across back property lines to Porterfield Gap Rd;
     Along Porterfield Gap Road between E. Union Valley Rd. and back property lines to E. Union Valley Rd..
     Additionally, to facilitate safe working conditions, KUB will implement temporary lane and road closures on sections of the following area roads as construction progresses:
     Old Sevierville Pike: in stages between Chapman Hwy. and S. Cunningham Drive; between both east and west S. Cunningham Drive intersections; between east S. Cunningham Drive intersection and E. Nails Creek Road; and between E. Nails Creek Road and Curley Lane;
      Curley Lane: between Old Sevierville Pike and Pimlico Drive;
       W. Union Valley Road: between Scenic Circle and Hansard Drive;
       Porterfield Gap Road: between W. Union Valley Road and E. Union Valley Road.
       Lane closures during the project will continue until the project is complete and road closures will continue until all of the utility poles are set, which is expected to be in the next two or three months.
      All closures will be temporary during the day because once work crews are finished in an area they move on and to avoid interference with the morning and evening commutes.
