A reception for the new pastor of the Smoky Mountain Seventh-day Adventist Church, Pastor Daniel Romanov, was held last month in the Fellowship Hall of the Church.
Pastor Romanov is from Russia but has been in the United States for 12 years. He attended college at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, Tenn., and graduated from Andrews University's Seventh-day Adventist Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Mich.
At the reception, Pastor Romanov was given a whirlwind familiarization tour of Tennessee, during which he received several gifts significant to the region.
Among the gifts were University of Tennessee sports items including a Vols football t-shirt, which he put on with enthusiasm.
Sandra Pinkoski, a member of the Great Smokies Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), presented Pastor Romanov with a trivet from the DAR Museum in Washington, D.C., and welcomed the pastor to the area on behalf of her DAR sisters.
Depicted on the trivet is a painting of DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C. Pinkoski then sang The Tennessee Waltz, which was made the fourth official song of the state of Tennessee in 1965.
