The City of Sevierville announces the dedication of the Douglas P. Bishop Memorial Bridge on Sat., Aug. 1, at 9 a.m.

The dedication will take place on the east side of the Gists Creek Road Bridge near the intersection with Winfield Dunn Parkway (Highway 66) in Sevierville.

Bishop served as the City Administrator for

Sevierville from 2002 until his untimely passing last year.

His vision for the future prosperity of Sevierville centered on development of the Central Business Improvement District, which stretches from downtown Sevierville to I-40. Doug spent countless hours, sacrificing much private time on seeing this vision become reality with the building of the Sevierville Events Center,

Gists Creek Road and Old Knoxville Highway improvements, ongoing construction of a new 18-hole championship golf course and rebuilding of Eagles Landing Golf Club, and additional planned road construction and improvements.
