motorcycle accident takes driver’s life

published: May 03 2008 01:30 PM updated:: May 05 2008 09:34 AM
A motorcyclist riding on South Rogers Rd left the road and struck head on into an embankment Friday evening.

A Seymour Volunteer Firefighter/Paramedic arrived at 6:44 P.M. to find a 51 year old male in serious condition.

Paul Harrison of Oak Ridge was riding his motorcycle with his friend on another motorcycle ahead of him when Harrison went off the road.

According to witnesses, Harrison was unfamiliar with the road and when he came up over the hill, Harrison didn’t make the turn and went head on into the embankment.

Sergeant Darrell Lee of the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department was the investigative officer at the scene.

Sergeant Lee told the Seymour Herald, “There was no alcohol or any other cause of the accident other than unfamiliarity with the road.”

Sergeant Lee said "According to a witness, Harrison pushed the motorcycle off of him, stood up and then collapsed. Possibly from his massive internal injuries he sustained from the wreck."

LifeStar was requested as firefighters and paramedics treated the victim. Unfortunately Harrison succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

The accident was on South Rogers Rd at Graves Delozier Rd.

Harrison left a wife, two sons and a daughter.

What a whooper! Darrell Lee is not trained or qualified to do accident reconstruction or practice medicine with out a medical license.

The only school he went to is North View for the free lunch program.

Good grief a man died. Have you no respect? Please reserve your comments if you have a personal issue with the officer in private.

Absolutely zero respect for Darrell Lee. Remember he is the first one to have opened his mouth to prove himself stupid when he was grandstanding! I will express my view anywhere I see fit! That is called freedom of speech fool!

#7 Sounds like you have had a run in with the law. he can't be an officer if he is that bad. did he give your mommy a ticket?

Nope, just a Dirty Cop!

Sergeant Lee told the Seymour Herald, “There was no alcohol or any other cause of the accident other than unfamiliarity with the road.”

Now let's apply some truth and logic here. Alcohol is orderless and colorless, dose dummy Lee mean alcoholic beverage? How did he determine if the cause was unfamiliarity with the road, when did dummy Lee learn how to speak to the dead?

You don't have to look too far far to see the stupidity of his statement!

#11 Local commented, on May 8, 2008 at 11:24 a.m.:

Read the story slooooowly, it states he was following another friend. I'm sure the friend gave a statement to the deputy.

Reading the story it states"Paul Harrison of Oak Ridge was riding his motorcycle with his friend on another motorcycle ahead of him when Harrison went off the road.

There is some very disturbing lack of information that the Harrison family is entitled to from a properly trained accident reconstruction officer, such as a THP officer and not the unskilled Lee. We are talking about a man's life here and that can not be put in the judgment of untrained, unskilled people. None of the Sevier County Sheriff's Department are trained or certified in accident reconstruction. By it's own merit the article states the other rider was IN FRONT of Harrison, he could have not possible seen was transpired. Then we get into witnesses, who are these people are they trained in fatal accident reconstruction? The Harrison Family needs a good lawyer to look into this and fast.

Darrell Lee should not have and he violated department policy by investigating a fatal accident. The last fatal incident he was involved with was the Shane Price shooting and the results from the TBI were in total conflict with his statements. That a matter of record.

Sgt. Darrell Lee is way out side of department policy and subjecting the department to a major lawsuit.

Lee helped rid the Sheriff's department of Mike Mgrdickian (Say What)a few years ago for failing a psych test. The man has been ruthless against a good officer ever since

Good Officers don't violate department policy.

The Harrison Family deserves better than this untrained, unskilled determination to their love ones death!

GROW UP! and for the one's who commented on the cops... if you dont like the cops, then next time you are in trouble call a crackhead!

#17 Say What commented, on May 9, 2008 at 6:55 a.m.:

Darrell Lee is a crack head Boyd! The Family is getting the raw deal just like the family of Shane Price did. I never said he was the only dirty cop, just one of many my friend, one of many!

So If I read this correctly you admit Darrell Lee is a dirty cop and even state there are more of them. Gee thanks for the information and proving my point!

I live on the road that this person lost their life on. This part of the road is used by thrill seekers looking for a part to go fast on. You are sort of in a bowl from one hill to another. The hill that he came over is one that you can "loose your stomach on". Cars and motorcycles drive extremely too fast on this road. I hate that this has happened but it is one of those situations where you are just waiting for it to happen because no one will do anything about the speeding that goes on this road. If someone would do something about the speeding, I would not care if they are dirty or not as long as it saves a life.

Well Darrell and Sandy Lee have joined the ranks of the Cocaine Commandos! They get out here and blog to defend Sevier County Stupidity while they epitomize it. The people found out about Darrell and run his skinny shaky knee ass off the county commission! Everybody knows he modified a official SCSD report for his buddy Garry Cate, in fact here it is

Here it is in black and white folks. SCSD report#2004-28781 and it clearly reflects the modifications by Darrell Lee! Look for yourselves.

He removed Garry Cate's name from the report. The next post will show the original report prior to Lee's modification.
