As a former Clerk & Master and having cleaned up the back-log of delinquent taxes due the county in 1982, I bid in parcels to the county which were recorded in the name of Sevier County after the two-year (then in force)
redemption. A portion of these 57 properties, plus others coming into the name of the County since that time still remain off the tax roles and at a loss to the County.
There a total of nine parcels in this category, as found in fairly recent research of the public records, including the Assessor's Records, Comptroller of State of Tennessee, Divisionof Property recors. These are currently shown as owner by Sevier County.
The proposed Resolution mentions 'specific' properties being put in the 'next delinquent tax sale'.
Does anyone know when the last Delinquent Tax Sales was conducted and reported to the Board of Commissioners, and more interesting that no sale has been had since the last Taxes for Year 2005 were filed April 1, 2007.
Perhaps the Board of Commissioners should go further and require a report from the delinquent tax attorney, Jerry McCarter, as to his accomplishments to this point in rsolving the back-log once again allowed to accumulate in this county -
and further, when he comes up for reappointment/rehiring in one month from now to file tax suit for the year 2006,
just what are his intentions,
how many taxes, if any, are abated on April 1, 2008 for the year 1998 which remain uncollected?
While the Mayor covers for the delinquent tax attorney in not putting an item on the Agenda for the reports generally on delinquent taxes,
this proposed Resolution is slipped into the items of business with no input or accountability from the Tax Attorney.
Just another way that our Public Officials use there position to gain personally. How much does the good ole Cousin of the Mayor Waters, Judge Jerry McCarter get for collection of the back logged uncollected taxes?
Not sure, but we think that the attorney who collects these taxes get a whopping 10% of the taxes he collects from these property's. And Judge Jerry gets his county salary on top of that too!
Another scam to bilk us of our money and legally put it into private pockets.
Keep up the good work Mrs. Marshall. Glad to see you are still working for the taxpayers. Even thought the good ole boys worked hard to get you out of office because you would not play their dirty little games. And what moxy you had to tell the Judge his office was the place for him to do his business, not yours!
We need public officials in office who do the job of the people like you did. It is a shame we lost you as a public servant.

sevier county planning commission? I can not find a list of members. thanks
I found a list at http://www.sevierlibrary.org/boards/list...
