On March 29th, 2008 from 9 am to 6 pm, the Sam Houston Birthday Celebration will be held at the Sam Historic Schoolhouse Site listed above. Marble Springs Historic Farmstead's Manager David Talley, Marble Springs Board President, Jim Buckenmyer and volunteers will provide an early 1800's camp with various frontier activities for the public to enjoy. These re-enactors will be available for any questions that anyone may have.
In addition there will be musicians performing all day in one hour increments. There will also be local and surrounding artists and craftsmen with tents and booths to both demonstrate and sell their creations.
A barbeque lunch will be served from 11:30 until 2:00 at a price of $6.00/meal, (including Barbeque Sandwich, slaw, baked beans, potato salad and drink). There will be no charge for entrance to the Site or for touring the Sam Houston Museum on hhat day. Any small donation will be greatly appreciated to help with operating expenses.
Everyone is invited to come and enjoy a day of education, fun, food and music.
