Thanks to a beautiful spring day and the generosity of local merchants, Kites at the Academy got off the ground in splendid fashion April 12, and $1400 was raised in support of The King’s Academy’s middle school baseball team and its 2008 Annual Fund – Investing in Winners of the various categories were selected and presented trophies this week with local sponsors invited to participate.  Categories and winners are:

Highest Flying – Julia Weech, sponsored by Trinity Paper & Packaging

Largest – Katelyn Myers, sponsored by Bob Barker/Capri Motel

Smallest – Catherine Sharp, sponsored by Chip’s Transmission & Car Care    

Most Original – Trevor Pitney, anonymous sponsor

Prettiest – Thomas & Rebekah Newman, sponsored by Carl Hatcher Furniture

Best All-Around – Scarlett Spaulding, sponsored by Doug & Cathy Smith, DDS

Bob Deatherage, Development Director for The King’s Academy expressed appreciation for everyone who helped to make the activity a success. He said he is particularly appreciative of the involvement and generous support of so many local businesses.
