police search for suspect in reported bank robbery

The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) is searching for a man suspected of robbing Sevier County Bank, 374 Forks of the River Parkway, at approximately 4:07PM today, Friday, September 28, 2007.

Witnesses described the suspect as a white male, wearing a dark blue shirt and pants similar to a mechanics outfit, and a dark blue baseball style hat and sunglasses. He was 5"10" - 6' tall, weighing 165-170 pounds, early to mid 30's in age, with a mustache and possibly a light beard.

The man reportedly handed a bank teller a note demanding money, and showed the teller a silver handgun located in the waistband of his pants. After being given an undisclosed amount of money, the man left the bank on foot.

There were no injuries reported.
