head-on crash erupts in fire

According to Sheriff Ron Seals his department. investigated an automobile accident on Tuesday at app. 4:30 PM in the 5200 block of Jones Cove Rd around mile marker 16. Seals states that the head on collision between the two vehicles resulted in one of the cars erupting in flames.

The drivers of both vehicles were both flew to UT Hospital via Lifestar where they are both listed in critical condition.

The drivers were identified  as Rita J. Brown, age 56 of Cosby and Joshua Stewart age 23 of Newport.

The investigation revealed that the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions and hit head on.

The accident is still under investigation by SCSD traffic reconstructionist Bob Bundren.
