early morning fire destroys home

This Blount County vacant home was fully engulfed in flames. Black smoke that billowed into the sky could be seen for quite some distance

An early morning fire has destroyed a home in Seymour on Nails Creek Road Wednesday.
A call came in to the Seymour Volunteer Fire Dept at  7:10 A.M. that a home was on fire.
By the time the four Seymour Volunteer Fire Engine and single Blount Count Fire Engine arrived on the scene, the house was engulfed in flames from end to end.
The fire has destroyed the home, which according to neighbors, was vacant.
It was confirmed that no one was inside at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire, located at 1116 Nails Creek Road, is under investigation at this time.
The SVFD dispatched four engines, two support vehicles and 18 firefighters to the scene.
Lieutenant Thomas of the Blount County Sheriff's department directed traffic on Burnett Station Road.
