According to Sevier County Sheriff Ron Seals, Sevier County Sheriffs Dispatch received a call of a burglary in progress at 1779 Sand Plant Rd in Seymour. The call came in at approximately 11:32 AM on Tuesday 10/31/07.
A witness called 911 and stated they saw a white male break a widow at the home and climb through and enter the premises.
Detective Jeff Manis and Patrol Officer Sara Sanchez arrived on the scene within minutes and saw a white male coming out of the woods near the home with a rifle in his hand.
Officers ordered him to drop the weapon to which he complied with the Officer's orders and he was taken into custody without incident.
Officers found several weapons and jewelry that had been taken from the home hidden in the woods from where the subject was taken.
The subject was identified as David Lee Sifford age 22 of Scenic Circle Seymour.
Sifford was charged with Aggravated Burglary in connection with the home burglary. Sifford was being held awaiting arraignment at time of release.
Sheriff Seals states that the quick actions in calling 911 by the witnesses was instrumental in the apprehension of the burglar and Seals states that anyone seeing suspicious activity in their neighborhoods should report it to law enforcement immediately.
