The Tennessee Museum of Aviation, a non-profit 501(c)(3) foundation located on the airport in Sevierville, will be getting our annual new coats for kids charitable program underway, designated Operation Warm Wings.

The goal of Operation Warm Wings is to furnish new winter coats for deserving children within the Sevier County community.  Since the program launched, in 2002, more than 900 new winter coats have been donated and distributed through this program.  The concept of Operation Warm Wings can be credited to museum volunteers observing children, as they walked among the aircraft, spreading their arms as they pretend to fly.

A spokesperson for the museum explains, "Sevier County has hundreds of children in need of new winter coats."  The museum staff and volunteers believe, as in years past, only the generosity of the Sevier County residents will once again make this years objective a success.  The spokesperson said, "This program would not be possible without the overwhelming support of the community."  She said, "We want to thank everyone in Sevier County who have participated in this worthwhile project, and encourage everyone involved in the past to make every effort to help again as we try to fulfill the needs of the children in our community."

If you would like to help by providing a brand new winter coat for a child in Sevier County or make a cash donation to the Operation Warm Wings program, please contact the museum at 908-0171, extensions 27 or 29.  A museum volunteer or staff member will be pleased to provide a list of needed coat sizes.  Our estimated goal is to have 200 brand new winter coats to distribute by November 16, 2007.
