sevier county public library system computer class schedule for november & december 2007

SEVIERVILLE - The Sevier County Public Library System offers computer classes for novice learners to classes for more advanced skills. The Basic Computer Classes, presented once a month, are designed for persons with little or no knowledge about computers. The Tech Byte Classes presented twice monthly, offer a wide range of subjects to interest everyone.

Have no fear; Basic Computer Classes require no knowledge of computer software or hardware. During the six-hour class presented as a daylong class or on two consecutive days, SCPLS staff will help participants decipher the mouse, keyboard, hardware and software. Participants will also be exposed to Internet basics including moving and sizing windows, multitasking, and copying and moving files among other skills.

All classes are conducted at the Sevier County Main Library Meeting Room in downtown Sevierville. The cost for the six-hour class is $20.00. Pre-registration is required as classes are limited to ten participants. The next upcoming Basic Computer Classes are scheduled for:

Ø        Saturday, Nov. 10 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (Day Class)

Ø        Thursday, Nov. 15 from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. & Friday, Nov. 16, from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. (Two-day Class)

Tech Bytes is a series of mini computer courses open to anyone with basic keyboard and mouse skills. Lunch from S&B Deli is included in the cost of the class. The cost for the class and lunch is $10.00 per person. November and December Tech Bytes are scheduled as follows:

Ø        Tech Bytes: Creating a Word Document - Friday, Nov. 9 from noon - 1:30 p.m.

Ø        Tech Bytes: Mail Merge in Word - Friday, Nov. 16 from noon - 1:30 p.m.

Ø        Tech Bytes: Creating Fancy Labels in Word - Friday, Dec. 7 from noon - 1:30 p.m.

Ø        Tech Bytes: Creating a Basic Worksheet - Friday, Dec. 14 from noon - 1:30 p.m.

The Sevier County Public Library System also offers six-hour classes to the public on Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and many others for a $20.00 fee per person per class. November and December classes are scheduled as follows:

Ø        Word I - Thursday, Nov. 8 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Ø        Excel I (Parts 1 & 2) - Thursday & Friday, Nov. 8 & 9 from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m.

Ø        Excel II - Thursday, Nov. 15 from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Ø        Word II - Saturday, Nov. 17 from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
