Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested In West Virginia
The Sevierville Police Department (SPD) was notified yesterday evening, Wednesday, May 16, 2007, of the capture of 31-year old Michael Ray Brewster of Oceana, West Virginia. Authorities allege that Brewster robbed Stewart's Drug Store on Monday, February 12, 2007 (see MR dated 02/13/07 below).
Brewster was arrested in Berkeley County, West Virginia by the Berkeley County Sheriffs Department. SPD Detective Kevin Bush, the lead investigator in the case, says that the SPD is awaiting Brewster's extradition to Sevierville. He is being charged with armed robbery, a Class A felony.
Detective Bush extended the gratitude of the SPD to nine law enforcement agencies that assisted in the case: the Berkeley County Sheriffs Department; Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; Knoxville Police Department; Blount County, Tennessee Sheriffs Department; Matoaka, West Virginia Police Department; Wyoming County, West Virginia Sheriffs Department; West Virginia Drug and Violent Crime Task Force; Newport, Tennessee Police Department and Cocke County, Tennessee Sheriffs Department.
The Knoxville Police Department and Blount County Sheriffs Department also provided valuable forensics analysis for the investigation.
