Woman in Jeep departs interstate I-640 ramp Friday AM, lands on road below to her death.
April Johnson, 22, of Seymour was traveling in her Jeep Cherokee on an overpass on Interstate 640 West, when her vehicle went off the ramp and landed alongside Interstate 40 East in some underbrush.
Knoxville police believe that Johnson was speeding which caused her to leave the roadway and strike a metal support beam for a directional sign.
Johnson was removed from the mangled SUV by the Knoxville Fire Department and transported to University of Tennessee Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead.
Traffic was backed up as the morning rush hour started due to the right lane on I-40 being closed at mile marker 385 as crews cleaned up the crash site.

I am so sorry for April's family. I went to school with her. She was a wonderful, nice, caring, and beautiful person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
