On Monday afternoon at approximately 4:00 PM a VW Jetta pulled out from Old Sevierville Pike onto Boyds Creek Highway directly in front of a Ronnie Proffitt of Knoxville, driving a large truck.
"I'm a little shook up but happy that no one was really hurt," Proffitt told the Seymour Herald.
"I thought I killed whoever was in the car, then I saw this guy over there by the VW and found out it was him. He came up and told me ‘that's my fault, praise god, it's my fault I'm really blessed,' so I just hugged him," Proffitt said.
Bill Hodges from Knoxville was the driver of the VW.
"I'm really blessed and thankfully," Hodges told the Seymour Herald. Hodges of received some bandages on his arm at the scene.
Tennessee State Highway Patrol Bill Fox happened to drive up on the accident and was able to assist in directing traffic.
The Seymour Volunteer Fire Department, Sevier County Ambulance and the Sevier County Sheriff were on the scene.

Hey Joe, not for nothing but, how can a "major" accident have "minor" injuries. That's an oxymoron.
Thanks for asking the obvious. It's the same thing I was thinking.
Major accident does not mean major injuries. If you had been on Boyds Creek during that time, you would better understand the major traffic problem from caused by the accident.
I guess that "major accident" and I are the only ones that saw the traffic jam and the VW that was basically trashed.
Taxpayer, you kind of put the moron in oxymoron. Ever watch a Nascar race? Many major accidents with minor injuries (many with no injuries). Looking at the pic of the Jetta I'm betting Allstate thinks it's major.
know nuttin' you're wrong, if it was a major accident it would definately have to have major injuries. No, I am only being facetious. I totally agree with you on the part of Allstate thinking it is a major accident.
The traffic jam from this major accident with minor injuries, also caused a second accident near the school.43KF
Speaking on accidents, everybody better be carring, "Uninsured Motorist" on their policy. Over 68% of drivers on the roads in Sevier County are uninsured. There is even a deputy working with a revoked drivers license! Man, I love this place!
John Taxpayer your the man! The Herald should give you a column to expose the injustices perpetrated by the corrupt machine known as local goverment to many of us. Keep up the good work at the gas station. The eyes of Sevier County are upon you.
Where do you get your 68% from? Anyone can come on here and make up stats.
I think this opinion section is a good thing. Everyone should be aloud to voice their opinion. The only thing wrong is everyone seems to be afraid to put their name to their opinion. Keep giving your opinion if you can stand behind it. If you can’t stand behind it move back to Michigan or where ever it is your from. We here in Sevier County stand behind our word and are not afraid to let people know it.
Mr. Taxpayer would tell you that your suggestion to use your real name is shear folly sir. Do you wish to shoulder the burden of Big Brother opening a dosier on you and your family? I thought not. I have it from a good source that 68% of people that use thier real name are NOT in the witness protection program. Another tidbit, 68% of people from Michigan are O.K. . It is not thier fault they were born yankees.
Ray, I also think this opinion section is a good thing but I also think you posting that exact same paragraph on every opinion section available just makes you look like an idiot. Oh and it is a good thing to put your name when you post, that being you're not afraid, but you might want to leave out your name so that way when we run into you at the grocery store we're not like "There's that Ray Davis, he's not afraid to let people know his name or that he knows how to copy and paste, copy and paste, copy and paste, and look like a dumbass!".
Sorry, forgot this little piece of information earlier but that comment was supported by 68% of the readers on here. :)
