A new member of the Sevier County Utility District Board experienced his first meeting Thursday at the SCUD offices.
Jerry Hays of Gatlinburg has been named to the SCUD board to complete the seat which vacated by untimely death of former board member Carl Hatcher.
Hays, who is also a Gatlinburg City Commissioner and owner of several businesses told the Seymour Herald that he is honored to have been chosen to fill the position.
Bill Maples, chairman of the board said, "We are thrilled that Jerry ha accepted the invitation to serve on the board."
Hays says he will be very involved in the learning process and is interested in all phases of the utility gas business.

Well if SCUD would hire younger members to the board, this dying in office wouldn't be such a big deal.
Younger members has nothing to do with it. Try learning the facts of this situation before opening the trap.
