Monica D. Ellis, age 80 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007. Originally from New Market, England, she married Reece Ellis and moved to Sevier County in 1946. She worked for the Sevier County School Food Service and was a longtime member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband Reece Ellis and son, John Edward Ellis. Survivors:Daughter: Linda Higginbotham and husband Barry Sons: Winford Ellis and wife Teresa, Charles L. Ellis and wife Jerri, Michael R. Ellis and wife Mable Grandchildren: Charles L. (Bud) Ellis, Jr., Michelle Effler, Reece Ellis, Margaret A. Brannon, Randi Williams, Tawnya Ellis Great-grandchildren: Jacob, Michael, Katie, Alana, and Sydney Ellis, Chase and Bryce Effler, Wesley and Katelyn Brannon, Chaz and Rhett Ellis Funeral service was 7:30 p.m. on Thursday January 25, 2007 in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Floyd Powell and Rev. W.A. Galyon officiating. Family and friends met 10 a.m. on Friday January 26, 2007 in Middle Creek Cemetery for interment. The family will received friends from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2007 at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Lela M. Hurst, age 93 of Sevierville, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2007. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a nurse during World War II. She taught nursing at Eastern State Mental Health in Knoxville and opened a free medical clinic called Bogart Clinic in the Sunset Gap community. She was preceded in death by parents S. R. and Matilda Hurst, brothers Ledford and Clete Hurst, and husband Jim McGinnity. Survivors: Daughter: Freda Sharp and husband Stewart Grandchildren: Christy Rogers and husband Frank, Brandon Sharp, Brittany Sharp Great-grandchildren: Kyle Rogers, Hannah Sharp, Halie Sharp, Aaron Sharp Special friend: Dr. Milbrey Hinrichs (Doc) Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Friday January 26, 2007 in the Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Stansberry officiating. Interment will follow in Hurst Chapel with military honors provided by American Legion Post #104. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday January 25, 2007 at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville.
