Rep. Richard Montgomery Appointed to Key Committees

NASHVILLE, TN, January 11, 2007 -- Local State Representative Richard Montgomery (R-Sevier County) has been appointed to two key positions in the House Republican Caucus and the House of Representatives. Rep. Montgomery will serve on the powerful Education Committee and the Commerce Committee. The announcement of committee assignments was made during the organizational session of the 105th General Assembly this week. \"I am honored to have been asked to serve on these committees,\" Representative Montgomery said. \"It is a privilege to serve the people of Tennessee in this capacity.\" Representative Montgomery is serving his 5th term in the legislature. The Commerce Committee’s subcommittees include Industrial Impact, Small Business, and Utilities and Banking. The Education Committee hears bills on a wide variety of educational issues, including K-12 and Higher Education. \"Representative Montgomery has proven his ability and willingness to serve the citizens of this state,\" said Minority Leader Jason Mumpower (R-Bristol). \"He will be an asset to these committees.\" The General Assembly has adjourned until January 19, 2007.
