Arrests made in rental cabin burglaries

Sheriff Bruce Montgomery announced that arrest have been made in a string of rental cabin burglaries that occurred in august and September of 2006.
Montgomery stated that several rental cabins had been burglarized in the past few weeks and plasma and LCD TV’s had been taken from the rental units.
Montgomery said that the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department Criminal Investigation Division received information as to the whereabouts of several large plasma TV’s in another county and acted on the information, which resulted in the recovery of several TV’s.
A search of a residence located off Boyds Creek Rd. by Sheriffs’ Detectives revealed three other large TV’s that had been stolen. Warrants were issued on another suspect and he was arrested on Thursday after being stopped in a vehicle on Newport Hwy. by Detective Jeff McCarter and Detective Matt Cubberly. Detective Stephanie McClure also assisted in the investigation and arrest of the pair.
Arrested were: Travis Ray Wilkins, age 23, of 1347 Buttercup Way, Newport, TN. He is being held on a $150,000 bond. The second person arrested was Linda Beach Wilkins, age 32, of 1210 Dartmoor Way, Sevierville, TN.
