Foothills Classic Marching Band Festival

It was another success year for the Foothills Classic Marching Band Festival as Seymour High School played host to at the 13th Annual Foothills Classic Marching Band Festival and contest Saturday, October 7.
The event, which hosted bands from 13 schools including Pigeon Forge High School was well attended as parents, friends and those who love music came out to hear the bands compete.
Trophies were awarded for 1st and 2nd place in each of the four classifications. Trophies were also awarded for 1st and 2nd place in color guard, percussion and drum major in each class. Best overall band, percussion, guard, drum major and majorettes in the various classes also received trophies.
“It went really well. It was the most attended contest in the history of the Foothills Classic. The bands that came were big bands and it was a great fundraiser success for the band. We sold out of everything,” stated Band director Michael McCarter. “We appreciate the support of Principal Greg Clark and Coach Householder along with the staff of Seymour High School for helping it make it a success. We’d also like to thank The Seymour Intermediate School for allowing us to use their facilities.” The Seymour, High School Band being the host, did not compete but did give an exhibition at the conclusion of the festival.
Overall band winners were:
Class A: Livingston Academy, Livingston, TN.
Class AA: Smith County from Carthage, TN.
Class AAA: Powell from Knoxville, TN.
Class AAAA: Walker Valley, Cleveland, TN.
Smith County had the highest score of the day.
