The second in a series of southern hospitality educational training sessions was hosted by the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce and Walters State Community College. Mr. Joe Combs conducted his first in the series “Spirit of Hospitality” for any that missed the April session earlier this year on September 12th and his second and newest in the series “Know Your Score” on September 13th.
This educational series is designed with two purposes in mind: to help front-line workers in the hospitality industry learn coping strategies for dealing with stressful situations while delivering good old fashioned southern charm and hospitality to visitors; a special session was held both days for owners, managers, and supervisors to attend to assist them in learning strategies to help them monitor and train their employees in using these techniques. Mr. Combs, Dean of Community & Economic Development at Walters State has had over 25 years of corporate training and experience and possesses a flair for adding a touch of humor to help get his point across to his students. This seminar series attended by over 250 people has become very successful. The Chamber and Walters State will present the third in the series of training in March of 2007.
