C.R.O.S.S. Ministries holds record food drive

“We are blessed” says President Last weekend, a record-setting food drive intended to feed Seymour families in need was held in the parking lots of Food City and Kroger in Seymour. “The food drive was a major success, and we are truly blessed,” says Charles Duso, President of C.R.O.S.S. Ministries. The successful food drive couldn’t have come at a better time, given that prior to this weekend, the ministry outreach program was beginning to run out of food. “We were running low, but we got the word out that we needed to re-stock our supplies, and the members of Seymour First Baptist Church, local businesses, and many private citizens really stepped up their efforts to help us out,” says Duso. Duso was especially thankful to Seymour First Baptist Church for heading up the successful Food Drive. Today, the stockpile of supplies has been completely replenished, and families in need can drop by C.R.O.S.S.’s food depot located on Boyd’s Creek HWY between McDonald’s and Seymour High School. Food supplies can be picked up at the depot’s location Mondays and Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Wednesdays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. According to Duso, C.R.O.S.S. Ministries has helped roughly 1,080 families in the Seymour area since its inception. “Many of our volunteers who either donate food or come to help in food drives don’t realize just how many people they touch with their charitable efforts,” says Duso, who adds that he’s always been impressed with the local community’s work ethic and its strong focus on charity.
