Residents concerned about creek

Clearing of some brush and small trees along N Knob Creek Road has local residents concerned that the adjacent creek may flood as a result of blockage.
A plot of approximately 12 acres located directly behind Smoky Crossings was recently donated to Sevier County to be a park. Alongside the 12-acre parcel and parallel to N Knob Creek Road was a row of scrub brushes and small trees.
“We got a call to mow and cut back the brush along N Knob Creek Road and even though it wasn’t a road project, we always try to assist residents with improving community projects that are county property,” stated Jonas Smelcer, Sevier County Road Superintendent.
Smelcer said they wanted the brush cut to aid in visibility. “If there is any blockage in the creek we certainly need to clean that out,” he said.

And now the county says they didn't have anything to do with it....
This is where it all started and at the meeting, our commissioners told us all that the County had NOTHING to do with this.
Did Mr. Schmeltzer have adequate permits from TDEC to work on a 303(d) listed creek?
