Republican U.S. Senate candidates Ed Bryant and Van Hilleary will duke it out on-air next week, debating tax issues.
Nashville radio talk show host Steve Gill agreed to host the first Town Hall Truth Forum on taxes during his talk show, “Steve Gill Mornings” which will air on Nashville’s WTN from 7-9 a.m.
The Town Hall Truth Forums were recently proposed by Bryant and Hilleary, who agreed to participate in the forums. A third Republican candidate, former Chattanooga Mayor Bob Corker, has yet to accept or refuse Bryant’s offer to participate in the Town Hall Truth Forums.
“I am excited that Steve Gill has agreed to host the first Town Hall Truth Forum on taxes,” said Bryant, a former federal prosecutor and four-term Congressman. “Steve is known across the state as a straight shooter and his listeners have always asked difficult, but fair questions. I am also pleased that my friend Van Hilleary has agreed to engage in this straightforward political debate on taxes.”
Both Bryant and Hilleary are former Tennessee congressmen. “These Town Hall Truth Forums will allow us to go beyond the constraints of 30-second radio and TV ads, and make ourselves available to answer serious and legitimate questions about our records from Tennesseans,” Bryant said.
