Seymour Primary is celebrating the end of a successful reading program which wrapped up yesterday with a combined total of 21,710 books read in just two weeks. The theme of the “All Aboard the Seymour Express” reading program was “we think we can, we think we can, we know we can.” Mrs. James’ class had the highest number of books read amongst the kindergarten classes; Mrs. Donna Clark’s class had the highest totals of the first-graders, and Mr. Kent Armstrong’s group won the top prize for the second-graders. Overall, Mrs. Atchley’s second-graders took the grand prize with the highest class total in the school. The top individual winners were Sierra Lindsay – kindergarten, Garrett McVitty – first-grade, and Melissa Cobb – second-grade. Mrs. Atchley’s class will be celebrating the win with a field trip aboard the Three Rivers Rambler excursion train in which runs out of Knoxville. The Rambler takes an hour and twenty-minute round trip along the Tennessee River departing from the riverside area of downtown Knoxville.
