County’s public library closed for the Fourth The Sevier County Public Library System which includes the Main Library and Genealogy Annex on Court Avenue, the Seymour Branch and the Kodak Branch Libraries will be closed for the Independence Day Holiday, Tuesday, July 4th. The Library System will reopen Wednesday, July 5th at regularly scheduled hours. For further information, please call 453-3532. KPD looks for drunk drivers The Knoxville Police Department has announced a special enforcement effort will beginning today, lasting until Tuesday. KPD Chief Owen said that during the 104-hour holiday enforcement effort, officers will focus on drivers who are speeding, driving recklessly, or who are driving while impaired. Officers will also be citing motorists who are not wearing their seat belts. The department will utilize Saturation Patrols and Directed Patrols along the interstates and the major arterial routes throughout the city. During the 2005 Fourth of July holiday enforcement effort, officers issued 1,862 traffic related citations. Officers also investigated 120 traffic crashes. Officers also arrested 24 individuals for DUI in the 2005 enforcement campaign. The highest Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) registered a .25, which is more than three times the legal limit. Ribbon-cutting for Collier Drive today Sevierville city officials will be holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for the newly completed extension of Collier Drive at 1 p.m. At an estimated cost of $3.9 million, this five-lane road will provide a direct connection from the Parkway to the new Middle Creek Road. It will connect to the existing Collier Driver at the entrance to Governor’s Crossing, proceed through Fairfield Glade condominiums, across Ridge Road and end at the new Middle Creek Road. Courthouse closed on the Fourth The Sevier County Courthouse will be closed Tuesday in observance of the Fourth of July, Independence Day Holiday. Jefferson County resident wins Lotto jackpot A player who purchased a Lotto 5 ticket in Talbott in Jefferson County will win the $78,447 jackpot from Wednesday night’s drawing for that game.
