Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce welcomes intern Cassie Maples

Maples is a recent graduate of Gatlinburg-Pittman High School where she graduated with honors in the top ten percent of her class. Maples will complete a three month internship with the Gatlinburg Chamber of Commerce experiencing all the aspects of the Chamber’s Marketing, Finance and Member Services departments. Maples will gain hands on experience by attending many Chamber sponsored functions, events, and committee meetings. The training Maples will gain through her association with the Chamber will introduce her to the daily operations of a member based organization as well as the tourism based economy of Gatlinburg.
This fall Maples will attend Furman University in Greenville, SC where she will study Communications/Political Science. Maples career goal is to pursue a job in either public relations or marketing. According to Maples she has already learned many new things that will aid her throughout her college experience. The most fascinating aspect of the Chamber that Maples has enjoyed thus far is computer applications and graphic design techniques used often by Chamber staff for promotional and communication efforts. Executive Director, Vicki Simms comments “We are proud and excited to have Cassie as a part of our Team, if only for a short time. Her dedication and enthusiasm has been a blessing to our organization.”
