Attention motorcycling enthusiasts! Mark your calendars now for this exciting opportunity to be part of motorcycle history in the making on Saturday, August 26 when sponsor Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell hosts the world record breaking attempt to set a new world’s record for largest simultaneous motorcycle burn-out.
This is truly where chrome and rubber meet the pavement folks so you don’t want to miss this chance to rev your engines along with 250+ other bikers who will be smokin’ their tires in unison to go down in Guinness World Records™ history. There is no charge to participate in the event, and all bikers are welcome regardless of the brand you ride. Pre-registration is already underway so head on down to the Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson location nearest you (Maryville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg) to get signed up or register online at www.smh-d.com. Registration will also be available the day of the event. Participants will be eligible to receive a variety of door prizes to be given away. Special T-shirts commemorating this exciting world record breaking event will be available for purchase. Additional sponsors for the burn-out include WBIR-TV Channel 10 and WIMZ 103.5 FM.
A burn-out clinic will be offered on Thursday and Friday (August 24-25) at 5:30 p.m. each day featuring a demonstration of the proper burn-out technique. In order to qualify participants must be able to execute a three-second burn-out within a ten-second window of time. Concrete barriers will be used to brace the riders’ front wheels adding extra protection for riders and their motorcycles.
If burning rubber just isn’t your thing, you’ll still want to be there to witness this history making event. “The Shed”, Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson’s 16,000 square foot covered music pavilion, offers grandstands for great viewing. Be sure to bring your camera and your camcorder to capture the unforgettable thrills on film.
“I think that the burn-out will be awesome,” said Scott Maddux, owner of Smoky Mountain Harley-Davison & Buell. “France currently holds the world record, and we’re determined to get it back for the U.S. If anyone is interested in being part of history, this is a perfect opportunity.”
Guinness World Records™ was first published in 1955 and quickly climbed to the top of the British bestseller lists. Since that time the book has become renowned globally and has sold more than 100 million copies in 100 different countries. The famous book has been printed in 37 different languages and is highly respected for its comprehensive content and authenticity.
The burn-out event will be taking place during Smoky Mountain Harley-Davidson & Buell’s Second Anniversary Celebration. This fun-filled family event will begin at noon at “The Shed” and is free of charge. The festivities will also include music throughout the day including a live concert by Big Guns at 7 p.m., and breath-taking stunt bike shows performed by the daring riders of ILLCONDUCT (formerly Harleystunts) who comprise one of the world’s top stunt teams. A variety of tasty food and cold beverages will be available at “The Shed” restaurant.
