All blood types needed

Your community blood provider, Medic Regional Blood Center, must collect 350 pints of blood each day of the week in order to fill hospital orders. Medic is the sole provider of blood and blood products for 28 area hospitals located throughout 21 counties. Medic is currently in need of all blood types. As mandated by the Food and Drug Administration, all transfused products must come from volunteer donors. Medic depends on area volunteers to give their time so others can live. Please give blood at Medic’s donor center which is open seven day a week for donor convenience or stop by a community blood drive in your area. • March 6, Kroger—Seymour, 10721 Chapman Highway, 10:00am – 6:00pm, Medic Mobile. • March 8, Murphy’s Chapel, Pittman Center Road, 11:00am – 7:00pm, Medic Mobile. Besides a T-shirt, donors also receive a free cholesterol level evaluation (no fasting required) and Medic’s Family Blood Coverage. Family coverage means that a pint of blood donated to the Medic Regional Blood Center will ensure your family does not have to pay blood supply processing fees at any hospital in the U.S. All donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh more than 110 pounds and have positive identification. Medic Regional Blood Center was established in 1958 by Carl Nelson, MD, under the sponsorship of the Knoxville Academy of Medicine. Area physicians supported the independent, not-for-profit blood center because they wanted a source of blood from volunteer donors and desired centralized blood collection, testing and distribution.
