A Sevierville man was arrested this weekend after allegedly admitting to police that he had burglarized a business on Old Newport Highway. Early Saturday morning, Scott Gibbs of Smoky Mountain Moving Services, at 2664 Old Newport Hwy., reported a burglary to his business wherein an undisclosed amount of money and property was taken, according to a press release from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department. After further investigation, Robert Daniel Vickers, a resident of 1294 Blue Grass Road in Sevierville, was located, allegedly with evidence from the burglary in his possession. “At 9:30 a.m., Mr. Vickers was taken into custody and admitted to investigators that he had broken into the business,” according to the release. Several more of the stolen items were recovered in Cocke County, the report says. Vickers was charged with burglary of a business and was placed in the Sevier County Jail. According to a Sheriff’s Department Intake Report, 26-year-old Vickers was later released after being held on $3,000 bond.
