SEVIERVILLE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ANNOUNCES WINTERFEST DECORATING CONTEST WINNERS

Sevierville (TN) – The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce announced the winners of the 2006 Sevierville Winterfest Decorating Contest during an awards ceremony held on December 8. The winners were: Best Accommodation 19’X19’ or less – Landmark Inn South Best Accommodation 20’X20’ or more – Clarion Inn Willow River Best Service Display 19’X19’ or less – Dana’s Golden Leaf Best Window – Sevier County Farmer’s Co-Op Best Mall – Tanger Five Oaks Outlet Center Best All New Display – Comfort Inn Apple Valley The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce sponsors the contest each year as a way of encouraging more Sevierville businesses to brighten up their storefronts with holiday lights and to enhance Sevierville’s Winterfest light displays. Judith Huskey, general manager of Tennessee properties for Tanger Outlet Centers, says, “Winterfest brings so much money to our economy. When everyone works together to decorate with additional lights it helps make Winterfest even more successful.” Tammy Dykes of Sevier County Farmer’s Co-Op notes that, “the kids’ eyes sparkle when they see the pretty decorations.” Judy Wilson, also of Sevier County Farmers Co-Op says, “We just enjoy decorating and being invited to decorate.” This was the first time Sevier County Farmers Co-Op had entered the competition. While the rewards of decorating can be both monetary and sentimental, it is certainly a task requiring many hours of work for those who are putting up the decorations. Travis McCroskey, owner of Landmark Inn South and winner for Best Accommodation 19’X19’ or less, says, “I just want to thank the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce for putting on this contest every year and give credit to my employees. They really look forward to putting up our decorations for Harvest Fest, Winterfest and even Springfest and they always do a great job.” The Sevierville Chamber of Commerce would like to thank everyone who participated in the 2006 Sevierville Winterfest Decorating Contest.
