FOOD CITY FAMILY RACE NIGHT nets $5,000 for UW

SEVIERVILLE, TN – United Way of Sevier County will be presented with a check for $5,000 from Food City (K-VA-T Food Store) on Friday, December 8, 2006 at 11:30 a.m. at the Food City located on Dolly Parton Parkway. Campaign Co-Chairs Sherry Robertson-Huskey, Rita Ellison and Janette Ballard said, “We are excited to accept this check from Food City Family Race Night. The money collected through this event will go towards the 2006 United Way Campaign to fund the 28 Community Partners (agencies) who serve the social service needs in Sevier County.” Accepting this check on behalf of United Way of Sevier County will be: United Way of Sevier County executive director; Roy Marshall, 2006 Campaign Co-Chairs; Janette Ballard, retired Circuit Court Clerk, Rita Ellison, Circuit Court Clerk, and Sherry Robertson Huskey; and United Way of Sevier County board members. Food City Family Race Night was held at NASCAR Speed Park on Wednesday, August 23, 2006 to benefit the United Way of Sevier County. Proceeds from every Food City Family Race Night are donated to local charities. “In Sevier County we rely heavily on various special events to raise funds for the United Way campaign,” said Laurie Taylor, United Way of Sevier County Board Vice-Chair and Country Tonite marketing director. “We appreciate the support that the community gives to United Way by participating in events like this one. And we are especially grateful to community business leaders like Food City and NASCAR Speedpark who see the importance in financially supporting our local United Way.” United Way wants to thank Food City, NASCAR Speedpark and all those who were involved in supporting the 2006 United Way campaign. United Way of Sevier County is still short of the 2006 campaign goal of $1 million and continues to accept contributions. There are four easy ways to contribute to this year’s campaign.
