Bruce Androphy appointed Ex Dir of Tennessee Ethics Commission

Tom Garland, Chair of the Tennessee Ethics Commission, yesterday announced the appointment of Mr. Bruce Androphy as Executive Director of the Commission. Bruce Androphy is currently the General Counsel of the New York State Ethics Commission, where he has worked since 1989. Chairman Garland stated: “Mr. Androphy brings a wealth of talent as well as practical experience in the area of ethics to Tennessee’s Ethics Commission. We are very fortunate to have an individual of his abilities to provide leadership during this critical start-up phase of the Commission’s operations. The Commission is confident that the citizens of Tennessee will be well served by Mr. Androphy.” Mr. Androphy stated: “I am honored that the Commission has chosen me to be their Executive Director. I am very excited about the opportunity of working with the Commission, the Tennessee General Assembly, Governor Bredesen, the State’s other elected and appointed officials, as well as lobbyists and their employers in implementing Tennessee’s new ethics laws.” Mr. Androphy stated further: “One of my first priorities as the newly appointed Executive Director is to put together a team of attorneys and other professionals to provide the best possible service for Tennessee.” The Tennessee Ethics Commission was established earlier this year with the mission to sustain the public’s confidence in government by increasing the integrity and transparency of state and local government through regulation of lobbying activities, financial disclosure requirements, and ethical conduct. Lobbyists and employers of lobbyists will begin registering with the commission this October 1st.
