Two of Pigeon Forge’s confiscated SUVs took first and second at the annual Dare Conference in the National Dare Vehicle Competition.
The SUVs were seized during two routine traffic stops which turned into drug busts. The vehicles were used in transporting narcotics. The Pigeon Forge Police Force converted them into DARE vehicles to use in school programs and street patrols when needed. Officers Dennis Sutton and Jason Baimonte entered the vehicles in the competition and brought back the awards.
Commissioner Howard Reagan reported he has had residents asked why Pigeon Forge was spending their tax dollars on expensive vehicles.
“Some drug people donated them to us,” Reagan said with pleasure.
“Thank you for seizing the drugs and getting these people off the street,” says Pigeon Forge Mayor Ralph Chance.
