Explorer post gets ready for the Goodwill Games

City of Knoxville Fire Department is the beginning of the Explorer Post for fine young men working there way to becoming what they love to do. And with time and training, it will soon become their job as they get old enough to become Firefighters. All Explorers are committed to understanding all aspects of the firefighting profession and to protecting the citizens of the City Of Knoxville and visitors to the best of their abilities. This Post is established for those with a general interest in firefighting as a career opportunity. This Post has agreed to abide by the rules and regulations of the Boy Scouts of America and the City Of Knoxville Fire Department. The Post is under supervision of Chaplain Paul Trumpore, Captain Jeff Kerley, and the Chief of the Explorer Post Alex Fischer. As a member of the Post there are events and activities year round that these fine young men ranging in age of 14-18 years of age with 12-14 members that are training and having hands on experience in fire and rescue. The Post meets every other Tuesday. For the last few weeks they have been training and preparing for the Goodwill Games on August 5th 2006 with David Bost as the Chairman of the Explorer Division. The City of
Knoxville is the Host for the competition with five other areas competing. This premiere fire and rescue event will entertain families, while showcasing the skills and strengths of those who risk their lives to protect communities around the region each and every day! Competitors in the Fire Division include Knoxville Fire Department Explorers, Blount County, Georgia, Morristown, and Englewood. All teams will be competing against each other in different events such as the Team Rapid Dress, Physical Fitness, Hose Relay, Single Rapid Dress and the Mystery Event. Schedule of events will be as follows:
8:00 a.m. Parade Line-up
8:50 a.m. Parade Begins
9:00 a.m. Vendor Booths Open
9:30 a.m. Opening Ceremonies
10:00 a.m. LifeStar Helicopter
10;15 a.m. Challenge Begins
2:30 p.m. Awards Banquet
