The Phil Roe for Congress campaign awoke Sunday morning to find that their campaign signs had been stolen and vandalized.  A police report has been filed and an investigation is underway. Signs were reported stolen in Washington, Carter, Unicoi, Greene and Sullivan Counties. The 4 foot by 8 foot signs in Washington County were slashed into pieces. Estimated loss and damage is estimated to be over $1,200.00 In a televised interview, Dr. Phil Roe stated, “It does appear that we were singled out since ours were the only signs vandalized...it is discouraging to see childish acts such as this.  We have run a clean campaign and are saddened to see others stoop this low.  This is, in part, why people are turned off by politics,” said Dr. Roe. It is possible that some of the Johnson City traffic light cameras may have picked up images of the crime or the perpatrators.  The camera images will be reviewed for possible suspects.  Any witnesses are encouraged to call the Johnson City Police Department. When identified, violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
