Senator Finney’s New Community Outreach Effort: Fourth Friday with Senator Finney

published: April 28 2006 12:00 AM updated:: April 28 2006 12:00 AM
State Senator Raymond Finney, who represents the Eighth Senatorial District (Sevier and Blount Counties), is beginning a new community outreach effort in each of the two counties he represents. Explains Senator Finney: “I regret that Tennessee’s budget will not permit legislators to have offices in their districts. A few constituents are able to visit me in Nashville, but it is difficult for most constituents to speak with me in person. I am trying to solve this problem by making myself available to Sevier County residents on the fourth Friday afternoon of every month.” Senator Finney will meet with constituents at the Sevier County Courthouse. Senator Finney explains, “I will not present a program, but I will be present to talk to any person on an individual basis or in a small group about issues that may be of concern.” The initial Fourth Friday with Senator Finney will be held Friday, April 28, at 4:00 pm, in Room 313 of the Sevier County Courthouse. Senator Finney adds, “All persons are welcome. I do not yet know if there is interest in these meetings. I will be at the courthouse on afternoons of the fourth Friday of each month, as long as community members show any interest by coming to talk with me.” Senator Finney has extended a standing invitation to Representative Richard Montgomery to join him in meeting constituents. Representative Montgomery has indicated he will come, whenever his schedule permits.
