Sev. County city officials to meet
City Mangers from Gatlinburg, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and Pittman Center will be meeting in the office of County Mayor Larry Waters today for their regular series of monthly board meetings.
The Sevier Water Board will convene at 10 a.m., followed by the Transportation Board at 11 a.m. They will then gather at 1:30 p.m. as the Solid Waste Board.
Generally, Gatlinburg City Manager Cindy Cameron Ogle, Sevierville City Administrator Doug Bishop, Pigeon Forge City Manager Earlene Teaster, and Pittman Center Town Manager, Steve Hendrix, are in attendance.
Today is the last day to vote early
Today is the last day to early vote before the May 2 Republican and Democratic Primaries and the Nonpartisan School Board Election.
Early Voting takes place at the Election Commission Voting Machine Warehouse located at 1145 Dolly Parton Parkway, in Sevierville.
The polls are open from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
After only seven days since the polls first opened for early voting, election officials have already seen 2,000 early voters come to cast their ballot.
“Normally we have a lot come on the first few days then it dies down,” said Administrator of Elections, Liz Nichols. “This year, we’ve had a steady stream of over 300 everyday,” she said.
Knoxville bank robber sought
Agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Knoxville Police Department, are asking for the public’s assistance locating the person wanted for the robbery of the BB&T Bank on April 19, 2006.
Carlton Wayne Wallace, white male born October 9, 1969, is wanted in connection to the robbery of the BB&T Bank located at 4611 Kingston Pike in Knoxville on April 19, 2006. Warrants are also on file charging Wallace with Parole Violation and Robbery. Wallace is believed to have been responsible for the robbery of a Weigel’s store.
Anyone having any information concerning this robbery should call the FBI at (865) 544-0751 or the Knoxville Police Department’s Hotline at 865/215-7212.
The public is cautioned not to approach this individual, but to immediately notify law enforcement of his whereabouts. The public is further reminded that all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
WSCC to deliver musical
“A Portrait of Love,” a musical cabaret will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 3, by Walters State Community College’s Music and Theatre Department.The performance features student Jacqueline Canney of Sevierville. A music major, Canney chose little-known songs from Broadway musicals to tell the story of a relationship through song. “A Portrait of Love” will be in the theatre of the Judge William H. Inman Humanities Complex in Morristown. Canney’s accompanist will be Micah-Shane Brewer.
