SCHS’s Calkins semifinalists for Presidential Scholar

Twelve Tennessee students have been selected among the semifinalists in the annual Presidential Scholars award program. The Presidential Scholars program was founded in 1964 to recognize outstanding graduating high school seniors. Of the 550 semifinalists selected nationwide, up to 141 students will be chosen as 2006 Presidential Scholars. As guests of the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars, awardees will meet with government officials, educators, authors, musicians, scientists and other accomplished leaders. The trip includes a ceremony at the White House where each scholar will receive a Presidential Scholar medallion.
