Blount County Sheriff James Berrong announced today that a Maryville couple is in custody at the Blount County Correctional Facility following their arrest on the charges of aggravated child abuse. Bradley Wade Wright, 28, Silverbell Drive, Maryville, and Candace Monger Wright, 34, same address, are each being held at the Blount County Correctional Facility on a $500,000 bond each. The Wrights will face their charges in Blount County Juvenile Court at 9 a.m. May 2. Deputies with the Blount County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Wright’s Silverbell address at around 8:15 p.m. Sunday to the report of a disturbance involving a juvenile. When deputies arrived, they found the Wright’s 14-year-old son who had a black eye and bruising. The Wrights told deputies that the youth assaulted Mrs. Wright. She had no visible marks. During an interview with the Wrights, each confessed they had assaulted the boy. The boy and the couple’s other children are currently staying with other family members. The Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the case, along with the Department of Children’s Services.
