Food drive benefits SC’s needy families casey@theheraldnewspapers.com The Sevier County 4-H Club is holding an Officer Workshop, during which the 4-H clubs from around the county will weigh in on their annual food drive. Last year’s “4-H Hooked on Helping Hunger” campaign brought in 4,632 cans of tuna and over $1,600 in cash donations to support the cause. The cash and food donations will go to the Sevier County Food Ministry charity program, which supplies groceries for about 800 families in the area, every week. The director of the Food Ministry, Steve Striebig, will formally accept the donations provided by 4-H clubs at 7:30 p.m. The event will also provide training for individual 4-H officers in the Sevier County chapter. More than 200 officers attend the event, each year. The 4-H conference is being held on Tuesday at the Sevierville Intermediate School. The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
