Seymour woman dies in Sunday wreck

Two-vehicle collision on Boyd’s Creek Highway results in fatality and two injuries chris@theheraldnewspapers.com A 54-year-old Seymour woman lost her life in a fatal two-car collision Sunday evening on Boyd’s Creek Highway. It marks the second fatality resulting from an accident on Boyd’s Creek in as many months. According to officers at the scene, a white mini-van driven by Israel Conde of Maryville swerved to miss a third car stopped to turn left onto Chilhowee School Road and collided head-on with a red Saturn driven by Diane Green of Seymour. It is reported that Conde had been observed running from the vehicle and collapsed in a neighboring field about 500 feet from the scene. The Saturn was headed east on Boyd’s Creek Highway when the collision happened at approximately 4:50 p.m. Green, whose address is reported to be 217 Stone St. in Seymour, was believed to have died instantly as a result of injuries sustained in the collision. Conde and a passenger were taken by ambulance to University of Tennessee Medical Center with undetermined injuries. An emergency helicopter was initially called, but it did not land at the scene after it was determined Green died on impact. According to Constable Jack Galyon, the Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) will charge Conde with vehicular homicide. Officers from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department and the THP, along with members of the Seymour Volunteer Fire Department and the Sevier County Ambulance Service, responded to the accident. No charges are expected to be against the teenage driver of the third car, which was not involved in the deadly collision.
