Ouch! That’s high Gas prices are on the rise and there appears to be no relief in sight. Increase in demand and shorter supplies are to blame. In our area the average price of a gallon of gas is around $1.84. According to AAA, fuel prices tend to go up in Marchm peak in May then drop off. Last year in March the average price of a gallon of gas was around $1.60. Price could go as high as $1.95 for regular before prices lower. Infant death rate high In Memphis Tennessee new statistics show that the area has one of the highest infant mortality rates in the country. Out of the country’s 60 largest cities Memphis has the highest rate, nearly twice the rate of the national average. According to reports, some areas of Memphis have death rates high than third world countries. The cause it thought to be a variety of reasons including poverty, crime, pollution, inadequate health care and lack of education. Slow going Campbell County’s southbound lanes of I-75 will be closed until at least mid-week before they are reopened near mile marker 141. Traffic is being deverted to Highway 25-W. The ground near the interstate has started to break away causing TDOT crews to shut down the road. Complete repairs could take up to a few months.
