Weather perfect for leprechaun walk

Mother Nature looked favorably upon the students and volunteers on Friday while they participated in the second annual Leprechaun Walk. Although there was a chilling breeze, the sun beamed down as the third, fourth and fifth graders walked, jogged or ran around the track in an effort to raise money for their school. “This is our second year having it in March,” noted Dr. Susan Latham, principal of the school. “In years past, it was in February and much too cold for the children, as well as the adults.” Dr. Latham also stated that this is the school’s biggest fundraiser in that all proceeds go directly back to the school. “Last year we raised about $15,000 on the walk, we hope to meet or beat that this year!” The money raised will go directly to the computer labs where new hardware and software is needed. Every child elicited sponsors to pay a “per lap” donation and participated in the walk for thirty minutes. They were then granted a 30-minute break, before returning to class, to cool down and were offered refreshments, snacks and tokens of achievement. The school would like to thank all those who participated and especially the volunteers who helped count laps, distribute refreshments and organize the affair as well as those who pledged their money in support of this event.
